Teater za voglom (Theatre around the Corner) is the name of the space in the right half of the ground floor level of Luba - dar building, between Bukvarna Ciproš and Leo’s workshop for the processing of wood and metal in the annex of the building.
Bruno, Zvonec and Tomaž with their theatre group Češnjev vrt (Cherry Garden) were the initiators of Teater za voglom; they started it and they took care of its further development. Theatrical and (acoustic) musical activities proved as the most suitable ones.
The punk music festival No Border Jam used the space for backstage and kitchen for musicians for a few years, and Bruno cooked vegetarian food for them. To this day, Bruno still opens the place daily - for tea parties and for young artists to create there. As the three most important productions in the place’s history he lists: sensory theatre with the production of theatre workshops Labirint (Labyrinth), cycle of classical concerts and improvised music events Glasbeni foajer (Musical Foyer), which was presented by Mitja Režman, and the project Glasbarium under the direction of Vasko Atanasovski.
Jam sessions and creative workshops also took place regularly there, particularly between 1996 and 2003, and till 2005, many literary events were held there (part of New depressionism cycle, organized by Xenia Jus, Nina Farič and MKC Črka). Many new bands formed through socializing, including Mari - bor’s first hip hop bands and individuals around DJ Splinter and his scene. The band Siti Hlapci began creating their music there and later moved a floor higher, where they have a studio and a rehearsal space.
