The band V okovih was created by Karno Bozi – Bozo (guitar) and Dejan Novak – Dedo (drums) in September 1989, and they performed as a duet in June 1990 at the open air festival Trate. In the beggining of 1991, Branko Kamenik – Ante (bass) joined the two, followed by Matjaž Tomažič – Tomo (vocals) a few months later. They performed in the new line-up in October 1991 at MKC club in Maribor. Soon, their first demo cassette was released. After Bozo left in the summer of 1992, the band changed a few guitarists, all from the local scene (Robi Klemenzberger – Roba, Mladen Buletinac – Bula, Milan Fras). After the Trate 1993 festival, Borna Šmid – Boca, at the time still a young guitarist, joined the band. They played at many concerts inland and abroad. In April 1994, Bojan Babič - Babo recorded 15 of their songs in the MKNŽ club in Ilirska Bistrica, which the band released as their first album Hard Sunshine Core under their own label in the next year. V okovih received the MARŠ Gojzar Award for the best band in 1995, but broke up in 1996. Because of nostalgia and wishing for a reunion, sometime in 2009 and 2010, the band’s recent line-up started playing again.
